Copiah County has a lot to offer new and expanding industry.
PROPERTY TAX EXEMPTIONS
Copiah County and the municipalities within the county can exempt ad valorem (property) taxes for up to ten (10) years for new or expanding facilities.
TAX CREDITS AND ABATEMENTS
- No sales tax on purchase of raw materials, processing chemicals, or packaging materials.
- No sales tax on direct purchase of construction materials, machinery, and equipment for qualified businesses.
- Partial (50%) sales tax exemptions for Tier One and Tier Two counties for qualified businesses.
- 1 1/2% sales tax on machinery and parts used directly in manufacturing and on industrial electricity, natural gas and fuels.
- State income tax credit 5 years up to $2000 for each new job created by a new or expanding business.
- State income tax credit 5 years of $1000 for each new R & D job created.
- State income tax credit equal to 50% of basic skills training or re-training expense.
- State income tax credit equal to 50% child care expense.
- For companies transferring regional or national headquarters to Mississippi, five-year state income tax credits of $500 to $2000 (depending upon qualified employee's wages)for each new job created and full tax exemption for direct purchases of construction materials, machinery, and equipment for the facility.
- Foreign trade zones, safe where your company's goods can be landed, stored, processed, and transhipped- all withour incuring custom duties (import tax).
- Utility companies offer discounts on telephone and electric rates to eligible companies.
